The voice behind some of Malayalam’s most iconic music numbers. Sithara Krishnakumar is one of the most sought after Indian playback singer spreading her wings across borders with her music. A three-time state award winner, the latest being for “Paalnilavin” from Kaanekkaane in 2021, Sithara has proved her mettle as a playback and an independent musician. A trained Hindustani and Ghazal singer, she holds a master’s degree in Hindustani Khyal Music and Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata along with a master’s degree in English literature from Calicut University.
She travels extensively and has performed in concerts and stage shows all over the world. Folk & fusion being her other areas of interest, she has collaborated with various popular music bands in Kerala. Ater Eastraga, the band that focused on a mix of female oriented songs backed by a team of renowned musicians, she is now the soul of the 6-member band Project Malabaricus, an independent venture dedicated to exploring and experimenting with her unique Folk and Hindustani influences, music philosophy and world view.
Sithara is also a trained dancer and her video presentations ‘Sri Gurubhyo Namah’ and ‘Tharuni’ has garnered rave reviews transcending borders. She has worked with noted composers like Ouseppachan, M. Jayachandran, G.V. Prakash Kumar, Prashant Pillai, Gopi Sundar, Bijibal, Shaan Rahman and rendered her voice to over 500 film songs including Malayalam and all other South Indian languages.
Her works encompass various genres which convey the deep rooted understanding of music at many different levels. The same instinct is what had Sithara compose music for three movies. Having shared stage with legendary stalwarts like SPB, K.J. Yesudas, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, K.S. Chitra, she is indeed a crowd favourite for concerts worldwide.
Our Keyboardist , Srinath Nair’s musical journey is deeply rooted in his family’s musical background, beginning with his growing up in Kolkota and his Hindustani classical vocal training at a young age under the guidance of Smt. Leena Chakraborty. From 2015 onwards he is a disciple of Hindustani classical music performer and guru, Shri Shirshendu Mukherjee, of the Kasur-Patiala gharana. His passion for ghazals, inspired by Hariharan, led him to specialize in various genres including Hindustani classical, semi-classical, and Malayalam music. As the founder of “The Green Room Tapes,” an Indie-fusion/ghazal band, he regularly showcases his talent both in and outside Kolkata. His First international concert tour to Australia with music director Prashant Pillai marked a significant milestone in his career. Srinath has had the privilege to perform alongside esteemed musicians like Ustad Rashid Khan and Srinivas, as well as contemporary talents such as Tabla player Anubrata Chatterjee and composer Mayookh Bhaumik who are currently the torchbearers of Indian classical music . His versatility as a keyboardist and vocalist has been showcased in various collaborations, including projects with Sithara’s Project Malabaricus, where he toured the UK and performed at Dubai EXPO 2020 , the Indiegaga International Music Festival and numerous shows across the globe Srinath has also been a part of various instrumental music collaborations, not only as a keyboard player , butt also as a harmonium player.
Praisly Kripesh is an incredibly talented and versatile musician, having contributed to popular television shows, movies, and albums as a guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. His collaborations with renowned music directors and artists across different genres showcases his diverse skill set and creative prowess. He has performed as the lead and bass guitarist with various bands around the globe and is one of the founder members of Project Malabaricus along with Sithara Krishnakumar . He has also lend his creativity to famous music directors like Prasanth Pillai, Ratheesh Vega, Rahul Raj Sankar sharma, Hesham Abdul Wahab, Arun Muraleedharan, Anand Madhusoodhanan, Iftikar Ali and many more . Other collaborations are with popular artists such as Harish Sivaramakrishnan, Siddharth Menon, Rajesh Vaidhya, Harisankar, Bhadra Rejin and many more. Praisly debuted into film music with Sankar Sharma in the Malayalam movie ‘Darvinte Parinamam’ & did background scoring of films like ‘Avarude Raavukal’ and ‘Theeram’ , worked in movies like Theeram , Sakhaavu , June , Anugraheetham Antony , etc.
Midhun Paul’s , journey as a drummer since 2013 has been impressive, highlighted by achievements such as winning the Radio Mango Decibel band hunt in 2016 as a part of the band THE UGLY OLD MEN and reaching the semi-finals of India’s Got Talent in 2018 with Dream Track band. His participation in international tours to Singapore, Canada, and Africa, as well as performances at festivals like Summer Tide, demonstrate his growing recognition and skill on the drums. Collaborations with renowned music directors and playback singers further showcase his talent and versatility in the music industry and the collaborations includes names like Hariharan, Sithara Krishnakumar, Job Kurian, Sooraj Santhosh, Harish Sivaramakrishanan, Harisankar, Sachin Warrier, Neha Nair, Suchith Sureshan, Manjari and Ann Amie and He has played for prominent music directors such as Mohan Sitara and Gopi Sundar as well.
Our lead guitarist, is an incredibly talented and hardworking musician! Juggling events in multiple bands while maintaining such a high level of performance is quite commendable. His achievements, like being a runner-up winner of Music India (Asianet) for Chemmeen band, and collaborating with renowned musicians like Vineeth Sreenivasan, P Jayachandran, Sarath , Vijay yesudas, Naresh iyer, Haricharan, etc and others, showcase his versatility and skill. Traveling across the globe for tours must have provided him with invaluable experiences and exposure to different musical cultures. It’s also great to hear about his teachers like Mr. Joshi , Mr. Santhosh Chandran & Mr. Geever who have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping his musical journey.
